4. A person uses approximately fifty‑seven sheets of toilet paper each day!
5. Fingernails grow nearly 4 times faster than toenails!

8. Most dust particles in your house are made from dead skin!
9. A sneeze travels out your mouth at over 100 m.p.h.!
10. Tablecloths were originally meant to be served as towels with which dinner guests could wipe their hands and faces after eating!

12. In New York, it is against the law for a blind person to drive an automobile.

I’m guessing some of these are outdated, but they’re entertaining even if they only “used to be” (And a few strange laws concerning food, eating, even chewing):

1. During your lifetime, you’ll eat about 60,000 pounds of food, that’s the weight of about 6 elephants!
2. The world’s oldest piece of chewing gum is over 9000 years old!
3. In the White House, there are 13,092 knives, forks and spoons!
4. The average American/Canadian drinks about 600 sodas a year!
5. Rice paper does not have any rice in it!
6. The fear of vegetables is called Lachanophobia!
7. Every year, kids in North America spend close to half a billion dollars on chewing gum!
8. Every second, Americans collectively eat one hundred pounds of chocolate.
9. In Tennessee, a law exists which prohibits the sale of bologna (sandwich meat) on Sunday.
10. A toothpick is the object most often choked on by Americans!
11. In New Jersey, cabbage can’t be sold on Sunday.
12. In Cleveland, Ohio, it is unlawful to leave chewing gum in public places.
13. In Singapore, it is illegal to chew gum.

Sunday Snippets: What a Pain!

SO sorry I can’t give attribution, but I can give you a laugh: this appeared without byline, in my neighborhood’s monthly newsletter for February 2013:

SPECIAL POEM FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

A row of bottles on my shelf, caused me to analyze myself
One yellow pill, I had to pop, goes to my heart to it won’t stop
A little white one that I take goes to my hands so they won’t shake
The blue ones that I use a lot, tell me I’m happy when I’m not
The purple pill goes to my brain, and tells me that I have no pain
The capsules tell me not to wheeze, or cough, or choke, or even sneeze
The red ones, smallest of them all, go to my blood so I won’t fall
The orange ones, very big and bright, prevent my leg cramps in the night.
Such an array of brilliant pills help to cure all kinds of ills—
But what I’d really like to know………..What tells each one just where to go?!

Happy Easter—hope you’re not too full of pills to enjoy your Easter dinner: ham, Easter eggs, and, of course, chocolate!
