Spellbinding Saturday: Another case for File 13

Easy as A, B, C . . . from HA

Okay, the title’s a little misleading. I’m not talking about the file 13 that’s near everybody’s desk; you know: the round one for depositing your latest rewrites…A19UtA6M5XL__SL1500_

This is referring to the third installment of the Case File #13 series by J. Scott Savage, Evil Twins. This definitely doesn’t belong in the aforementioned file 13. This one belongs in a hallowed spot in your library. (If for no other reason than Mr. B not having any answers.)

For those of you not familiar with the series: first, shame on you. You don’t know what you’re missing.

Second, a recap: Episode 1, Zombie Kid, has one of the three Monsterteers becoming a zombie. Episode 2, Making the Team, deals with a mad professor who is, in fact, making a football team out of used body parts a la Dr. Frankenstein.

This foray into the freaky and unknown has a little bit of everything: a homunculus, a search for Big Foot, doppelgangers, and discussions of other mystical and mythical beasties. I even found out the plural of Big Foot.

da065c43d7ab0a7e9d9afc_L__V402527085_SX200_Savage has created a wickedly exciting and hilarious adventure. His three protagonists, Nick, Carter, and Angelo are caught up in a world where doppelgangers are taking over. It seems they accidentally opened a portal on a camping trip… oh, wait; don’t want to give too much away. I’m bad about that.

It’s a tightly woven tale, full of twists and turns. There are kidnappings, disappearances, and strange goings-on with town members acting strangely. (Hint: picture Old Man Dashner roller skating in a lady’s bathing suit, pink of course, along the sidewalk. And that’s just one example.)

The climax, has the boys fighting themselves, well, their evil twins, to make things right. It’s a thrill a minute ride.

Get this one! If you haven’t read the other two, get all three of them! You’ll be glad you did.

Available at King’s English Bookstore in Salt Lake, B&N and Amazon by mail order and e-book.
